After a HD replacement and boot from Emergency Boot Disks, I need the system to think the root user (super user) is logged on to use a specific program. Can this be done? If so, what are the steps.

Pulling my hair out.

For me, only a super user may work from an EBD, so I quite don't understand your request.

Hope This Helps, PH.

After booting with EBD and mounting file system, I try to run my 3rd party restore software and get the message "you must be SuperUser (root) to run this program." which leads me to believe the I am not the super user after EBD. I have a # prompt but do not know what to do next to correct this problem.

Not sure.
Have you tried this?

#mount /dev/hd0root <filesystem>
#chroot <filesystem> /bin/su root

That usually allows me to run root commands after I boot with EBD's. Not sure what the application is looking at to determine if you are superuser or not.
