Does anyone know of a way to change the root password without being su and without reinstalling the OS. My server
was either hacked or I changed it on accident. I am running Solaris 2.7, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for all the great tips, but bi your suggestion seemed to work. I changed the permissions in /usr/bin/su and now it works fine. Thanks again

Thanks! Glad it worked. Someone once told me that the majority of problems in Unix are related to ownership and permissions.
