I just loaded my first unix server. Sun fire v120. After the intial set up I was able to log in using the default root password. I rebooted the unit after installing IPlanet. Now the default password does not work. What is the recovery procedure.

My server does not have a cd-rom. Should the box come with a OS cd because I did not get one? If not is there any place I can get one? Once I have one how would I get the files to the server.

By the way what is the default root password for Solaris 8.

There is no default, you assign one during install. You could try password or leave blank.

Ok, I must have fat fingered the password when I entered it. I am in. Thanks for the help.
