Hi Blade1,

Can you confirm your memory size please.

The first message you are seeing:

Insuficient space on dump device to save full dump
only 37746688 of 100664320 will be saved.

This is basically saying that in the event of a system crash whether software panic or hardware panic(HPMC) the system won't be able to capture the whole core image which will make analysis of the root cause difficult if not impossible - although during normal operation this message won't cause you nay problems in itself.

The second message regarding 'text modification/page i/o error' looks like it could be tied in with your lack of crash dump space in that you may not have either enough memory or swap for this system.

Can you confirm how much swap you have configured and how its made up, how many volumes etc.

You can use swapinfo -tm to ascertain how much swap you have.

dmesg will detail how much physical memory you have - look for 'Physical memory' towards the bottom of the dmesg output for the memory size.

Hope this helps.

The above message is normal on most machines that have installed the OS using the defaults. Unless you have enough dump space configured to save the core file you will see this messages.

The second error that your are getting and the fact that fsck fails to run tells me that the system was not shutdown properly at one point (turned off while running)and now fsck cannot fix the problems on the file system(s)automatically. You will have to run fsck manually and hope it can fix the problems. Also the problems may be related to you having a bad hard drive where these filesystems are located.

I hope this helps
