No resolved yet. I agree that the registry value needs to be set but from what I can tell it shoud be 0X0 (unlike the 2600 which should be 0x2102 but this didn't work. I'll keep working on it.
Well whatever.....All is OK now. I still don't know what went wrong.
All I did when things went wrong was:
1. save my ios to a tftp server
2. upload a config file from tftp server to start and reload
3. Here is where I was forced into rommon mode and couldn't get out. I could type 'boot flash:<filename>' and it would load the boot image just fine. Setting the registry values did nothing but boot in different modes. In the end I had to modify a monitor variable to point at my ios bin file and presto all was good.
4. for fun I decided to reload my config file again and all was good. Who knows. Perhaps faulty equip.
