Hello everyone...

We are implementing a new storage appliance that we will need to move shares to... (or copy to)-

Question:
Will ROBOCOPY move a share and keep the share and NTFS security permissions? I have a feeling it will move it but won't create it as a share on the new storage???

Thanks anyone!
Brandon

So,
ROBOCOY should take a current SHARE and copy/move it and REshare it as it was at the original location{b}??[/b]

Are there any flags assocaited with a SHARE that I need to know about? I looked at the site you suggested and everything references files only...

Many Thanks,
Brandon

No. robocopy doesn't create shares. It takes the contents of them, and copies them to another location (including NTFS rights, if you use the /sec switch). When that's done, manually create the share at the new location.

Thanks- will I get the same NTFS info by using /COPYALL?

Thank you!
