Robert.Husted Calendar Script Problem?

I have been using this calendar control for almost 20 years. Now, suddenly the calendar date selection does not work, unless I first click a button on the top (like next month, or today), then I can select a date.
Anyone had this issue crop up? Any solution?

It is the javascript calendar script by Robert.Husted. His name and an old email address are at the top of the script.
