I am about to explore this great new feature..i am sure there will be allot of catch 22's but, any tips or tricks out there before i start??

Also, what is the procedure to install the client? A special swicth??

We are using Version 5 (I think) and have found the following. When not all the users are set up as roaming, when a roaming user logs onto a non-roaming user's machine, the non-roaming user could not log back on without modifications to the notes.ini file. I know that I haven't gotten many calls on this lately, so our Notes Administrator may have figured out a solution. If so, I'll let you know.

Hi,

I guess you mean the R6 roaming functionality.
As far as I know you can install the client in the normal way. Notes looks in the Domino Directory to see if a user is roaming or not.

I have just finished implementing a unique solution that -to my surprise- also gave me unparalleled roaming possibilities without the need to install anything! Not only for Lotus Notes, but also for the complete OS and all the applications on it.
Furthermore this solution is almost 50% cheaper then installing a normal PC with all the software on it.
It takes away the whole client administration headache also (I mean the whole client PC, not only the Notes client).

How it works? Simply: we used PC's without any storage devices. All data is on the server. That server is a very basic machine (only needs to have a good HD).
The machines boot over the network and the user has only network drives. Notes is installed using an administration image ("/A" switch) and therefore each user has it own data directory that is also on the server.

Works fast and smooth and is sooooo easy to maintain!
The ultimate roaming solution!

Sounds like a great solution, but 70% of my users are laptop users and are never in the office. So my dependency on a LAN can never be fully achevied.
