Hi,

Out current setup is an NT4 5.5 Exchange server, and clients running Win9x with Outlook 2k. What I am trying to do is configure our setup so that Outlook uses a roaming profile, so whatever computer they log onto, they will be able to access their mailbox.

Does anyone know if this is possible with our current setup ?

Hi Grenage,

Yes, this is possible.

In Outlook, click tools-services then double-click Microsoft Exchange Server, goto Advanced and tick Enable Offline Use
Once this is done, synchronise all folders.

Point to note though, is only work online in your base office (I.E. only on the same LAN)
If you try to work online via anything less than a 2-3meg connection you stand a good change of corrupting your OST (Offline-storage)

Thanks for replying.

I tried your suggestion, although as I thought it might - it just synchronised the data between the client and the server. How can this help with roaming profiles ?

The best way to do this is to have all mailboxes available within your default user profile and have outlook prompt for a user. The main problem with implenting this now would be having to delete everyones profile to make it available.

If you want to do it let me know and ill give you instructions.

Thanks for replying,

Sounds good, it would save time in ppl could access their email from other machine. :)

Hi Grenage,

Sorry, I mis-read the question.

We had something similar set-up using profgen.exe. I don't know where it came from, but searching with google returned a few hits.

N.B. this will take your NT username and try to resolve against an exchange mailbox.
