Roaming Profiles and Folder Redirection My Documents

Please help me to understand where I'm saving files now.

The Server I is running W2000 and Workstations are Windows XP Professional.

I successfully setup roaming profiles (\\server\profiles\%username%) and also setup Folder Redirection specifically for My Documents folder using a GPO to \\server\users\%username%\MyDocuments.

I can switch from computer to computer just fine, my documents folder “follows” me along fine.

I’m just confused about where exactly files are kept when saving to [My Documents]. I thought that they would be saved in \\server\users\%username%\ folder because that’s what is in the GPO but all files are actually being saved in the profiles folder: [\\server\profiles\%username%\My Documents]

Can somebody help me to understand why the files aren’t being “redirected” with the GPO and instead go to the profile.

Is this the way it should work?

It does what I want: My Document folder is in the server and users can work from any workstation. I just want to know.

Thanks!

I assume you set up a folder on the server called "USERS" as this is where your "users"my documents will be saved in the GPO this is where you should send the redirected docs to. If I only knew today what I will know tomorrow.

Apologize!

I just realize that the the folder where I was redirecting MY DOcuments was missing FULL CONTROL access.

Thanks for your prompt reply, I feel awful, as soon as I uploaded the message, I went to check once again the permissions and that was it!
