rmt0 goes defined after reboot 1

How do I make it available automatically on boot?

Hi,
there is a problem with rmt0. Other it always goes automaticaly available. Probably you changed scsi id ?
In this case after reboot rmt0 will defined and rmt1
available.

I'd like to add this is a brand new server, we just got the OS installed. We have not added anything, everything (including tape drive) had come pre-installed.

Also, I didn't mention, I can make it available easily, by just going into smitty and Configuring the drive.

Can you set manually that tape to available state after boot? (mkdev -l rmt0). If no - it looks like your tape lose connection with the SCSI adapter (you should check the SCSI bus and the tape power suplly cables) or it is out of order.

Tape Drive is Differential SCSI 4mm Tape Drive (is that what you want?)

Yes, I can set the tape to available state. I do it through smitty - but I would think the command is the same.

Where is the console.log? I did a find, and didn't find it. AIX version is 5.2, the server is a pSeries 7029-6c3

I don't see anything, but I'm not familiar with conslog or bootlog.

That was in bootlog. I didn't see anything in conslog for rmt0.

try to install this device driver. devices.pci.14106602.rte.5.2.0.13. This is downloadable at IBM website.

This will solve your problem.

there is an ftp site you can go and download.
ftp.software.ibm.com but not sure which one to choice for you -- you migt start with devices.. i am having difficulties since our proxy server is disable - i am on read only

After you make the drive available run bosboot -a. This will load your configuration into the boot kernel.
