rm'ed large file and do not see the space freed 1

I have rm'ed a large file but it has not give the space back when I check the df.

Is there anything I can check or do to get this space back?

IMHO maybe the file is still open (used by some process the time you deleted it)

Try umount and mount the file system again!

Another alternative is to use the lsof to see the open files!

Thank's was forgetting the lsof.

fuser /filesystem - will also tell you if users are still accessing the file system and possibly the file.
