I've followed the pubs as best I can tell and when I go to the TLAN address of my signaling server to look at element manager I get a blank white screen. No errors, but just a blank white screen.

I can ping from the signaling server the TLAN gateway, and my CS1000M, and callpilot (both on the ELAN) so I think I have my interfaces setup right.

I set up the sig server with a new fresh install of 4.50.88 software and set it up as a "leader" standalone, and sip gateway only as I believe this is what I need to build out a SIP trunk between my CS1000 and another PBX. (please correct me if I'm wrong). I have the signaling server, MC32, and CS1000M switch. Are there any other components I'm missing in this equation?

What's the next step?

Apparently typing xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/nrs at least tries to get me to a web gui but on IE/Chrome/Firefox I get a message that it's not compatible with my browser... Should I have built this a co-resident or stand alone if all I'm wanting to do is make my CS1000M-MG SIP-Trunk enabled? And does anyone know how to get around modern browsers not working with this?

If you are talking the certificate verification error - this is normal. on IE just "proceed" and the EM should come on up.

Ok, it looks like 4.50.88 doesn't like anything on a modern computer. I had to log on to an old XP machine to get it to come up and now when I put in the information I get a WEB4008 No idle TTY channel available.

I assume this means I have to build a PTTY for this to use, I read something about that somewhere in the pubs. I've never built one of these out for IP before so this is all new to me

Yes, you need 2 PTY's usually 11 and 12. Sorry I don't have the docs to look at. I used the doc's for Call Pilot setup to set pty's back when.

I was able to get in. I just put some random pty in and it seems to work, but now I'm stuck on getting the thing to recognize my MC32 card. The docs I'm finding are for 7.5 or so not 4.5 which seems to be quite different. Do I need to set up a NOde? I tried that and tried putting in the ELAN mac for the card in question to set the IP address info for it but it couldn't find the card.

The info you are asking for has to many programming steps for just back and forth Q&A. Maybe some of the other guys have links to doc's you need. You will need to build the node, routes and hardware profiles. As I am rebuilding my doc library, Im not going to be much more help. You should have got some of the setup docs for the SS and 4.5 docs are out there somewhere. When you get the node info, EM will import some of the info, then you can add the MGC to the node setup.

Thanks Splic3d,

I was able to fumble my way through it yesterday and got everything talking. My boss found the 4.5 NTP library. There were pubs in there I didn't know existed! I have a few books for 5.0 when I took the DB class back when and the rest are from rls 23 (our old switch). I'm glad Avaya sees fit to continue to post these things on their site!

I got the signaling server set up and was able to get it to finally download to the MGC by copying the exec file onto a fresh flash card and then booting the card up. It then, I guess, cleared out everything from the previous owners install and allowed me to download from EM. Now I've just got to make it register with Asterisk!

Thanks again
