You are talking about a LOT of trust in the step-by-step upgrade from R1/T1 to 3.0, then to 6.1, and then to 7.0/7.1 (I may have missed a step in there...)
In my experience, especially if you have a lot of programming (like DID's, etc), you will be better off copying down the programming and going directly to the newest version of software. You will certainly need a new voicemail, as the VM that is R1/T1 compatable is not 7.0 compatable. As PERRYPJ said, GOOD LUCK!
To compound things, as I recall, on R1T1, you can't even log in to the system via RAD, so regrettably, you'll have to sit at a 7310 and copy all your programming manually.
(It's really not as bad as it sounds. I did the same thing a few months ago, and it took me about 3 hours, and a full legal pad.)
Straight out of the Nortel Installation and Mainteance guide page 116. ALL OLD PROGRAMING IS MAINTAINED WHEN UPGRADING FROM THE 0X32 RELEASE 1 - T1 SOFTWARE, WITH THE FOLLOW EXCEPTIONS.
1. ALL SYSTEM PASSWORDS IS REVERTED TO DEFAULT.
2. ATA TIMER IS REVERTED TO SYSTEM DEFAULT.
ITS BEEN A WHILE WORKING ON NORSTAR BECAUSE IM ON THE MERIDIAN 1 SIDE RIGHT NOW. DID A LOT OF UP-GRADES IN THE PAST BUT WITH AGE YOU TEND TO DOUBT YOURSELF. I WILL COPY DOWN ALL THE PROGRAMMING INFO, BUT THE SALES STAFF HAS PROMISES THIS CUSTOMER THAT ALL WILL BE FINE FROM GOING TO R1/T1 TO 7.0. I JUST DONT WONT TO BE HOLDING AN EMPTY BUCKET OF WATER. I"LL PASS THIS CONVERSATION IF THINGS DON"T PAN OUT RIGHT, AND SAY I TOLD YOU SO. THE VOICEMAIL I KNOW I NEED TO CHANGE.
There is an upgrade tool kit to go all the way up to 7.0 from R1T1. Make sure that you get the correct tool for your upgrade (USA, CDA, NA). But like everyone here has said there is no guarantee that programming will be saved so be prepared if it is not. I've upgraded from 3 to 7 with no problems and I've upgraded from 3 to 7 and lost programming.
