I'm new to the Mitel world. We just installed a MITEL 3300. When my users are on a speakerphone and they are getting a second call they can't tell that they're getting a second call unless they're staring at the phone. IF we mute the speakerphone or if the handset is offhook they get a short "alert" ring. Is there any way to get the "alert" ring on speaker calls also?

Any help would be appreciated.

Good news and bad news.

Good news is you are not the first to ask this question

Bad news is the answer is still, The Speaker will not emit sounds while engaged for a voicecall. Common Sense.

Thanks for the reply although I disagree with your "common sense" analysis. Especially since all the other systems that I'm trained on (AVAYA, Nortel, Siemens, NEC, Inter-Tel) offer ringing while on a speakerphone call. To me "common sense" would lead someone to believe that the Mitel would do the same.

First and formost... Welcome to the Mitel World!

On the Mitel IP Sets; when the phone rings - the IP phone uses a wav file to play a ringing tone/cadence... if the Speaker phone is enabled the speaker is used for the conference call, therefore locking out the second line ringing.

YnotPhone,
Any idea how to change the wav file? That would be a blast!
