I tried changing the ringtone override for the doorphone group so we can distinguish between a regular caller, but it has no affect.

i programmed a button on the phone and it still does not ring the override ringtone i selected.

I have an avaya ip office 500 v2 rel 9.1.4.0 and phones are all 9641g

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe those ring tone overrides only work on Analog phones. I asked a similar question a while back and someone told me that...

Check the help file. It explains what handsets it works for.

Daddy! Geh UP! APPLES!

Is the door phone using a line port or a station port. If using a line port just put that line on any phone that needs to ring and set it to ring. It won't ring differently, but it will ring on that specific button so you can visually see if it is the door phone.

That's pretty the same as the group button already suggested, which is what I'd do also :)

Thanks guys, it would have been great to hear a different ring so i can automatically know to look up at the screen to see who is there.

With my older avaya partner the doorphone first made a door bell sound .

You could do any noise you wanted on your PC speakers if you had PM Pro, another thing they got rid of in the name of "progress" :)

besides installing PM Pro, are there any other workarounds?

well you don't have digital (14xx/95xx) phones, so differentiated ringing is out.

If you absolutely must have a unique ring, I would have the doorphone ring a HG with an analog or SIP alerter in it, and then put a group key for pickup on all the 9641's.

Or wait until R10, maybe the GRIP request for differentiated ringing on IP phones will be implemented.

knowing avaya if they implemented the change in R10, they would stop supporting half my existing hardware, like they did in 9.1

SoftConsole can play different wav files based on who is calling.

Or if you have VMPro, get the door phone to hotdial a module that contains a Post Dial action which pages everyone with a "It's someone at the door" wav.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

Or better still "There's somebody at the door" like in the old British kids TV show "The Pink Windmill show"
