Ring Tone Override

Hello All,

I received a request from a medical office to have a "different ring tone" for a dedicated line where staff including physicians can call into to bypass the Auto Attendant and get a staff member.

System:
IP Office 500 v2
30B- Nortel Phones
16B- Nortel Phones
Phone 8- (2)
VCM 32
Legacy Carrier: IP 400 Dual PRI
Phones: Nortel T7316e

I have tried setting the Ring Tone Override in the System and assigning that ring tone to the incoming call route:
Example: Classic Tone 2 Assigned to the "staff line" incoming call route.

The problem is that the ringtone override is not working after making this change, the phones ring the same ring tone as the rest of the incoming calls.

Any ideas on how to make this work? Could it be that the Nortel Phones do not support the ringtone override in the IP Office? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Aaron

If you have VMPro, you could send those calls to a hunt group and have group make a page using the post dial function. The page could say "physician call on XX" and staff would dial XX to answer. We've used this successfully in several other situations.

And if not, make a Group button for the Secret HG/DDI.
When there's a Physician calling, that button will light up...push it to answer.
This way they can pick up regardless of any other calls coming in at the same time. (I'm sure there is a solid queue lenght at all times..Doctors:))

Kind regards

Gunnar

From the help Files
"Ring Tone configuration is only supported on 1400 series and 9500 series phones"

you will not be able to have a custom ring-tone on the Nortel handsets.

See the above options for possible solutions.
