Hello all,

i have a user's phone (Dterm Series E NEC) that won't ring to voicemail. It just rings until he picks up or the caller hangs up. I'm new to PBX systems, I just started at this company and no one here knows anything about it. Is this something I can do from the server or set from the phone? We have matworx installed on the server and I'm basically just wondering around aimlessly. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Skylar

Since you mentioned MatWorX, we'll assume you have an NEC NEAX 2000 IVS/IVS2/IPX system. You need to set call forwarding to the voicemail. The first thing you need to find out is what is the pilot number of the voice mail. Then you need to find out what the call forward codes are. Go off hook, dial the call forward busy/no answer code followed by the voice mail pilot number, wait for the set tone, hang up. You might be able to use the soft keys if the phone has them, instead of an access code.

@belvedere how do I find the pilot number/what is the pilot number?

@belvedere I've looked at 2 phones and both are different. Users just press a voicemail button and it auto dials. 2510 and 2509 are the two numbers I have seen when dialing the voicemail. I tried using 2509 because that was the number of the phone that won't forward to voicemail. I tried using the feature code for Call Forwarding-Busy Line (entry) from this forum: but when I followed your instructions and started dialing the feature code it auto dialed to our receptionist. Any thoughts? I know I sounds dumb but I am not familiar with this system and I'm the only one in my IT department. Thanks for your help!

That link doesn't give you the feature code, it tells you how to find out what it is. the numbers next to the feature name are the settings you set the code to be. so for example *2 could be set to 012 which would mean that *2 would be the feature code for Call Forwarding-Don't Answer/Busy line (Entry) if you have an IVS.

Hey guys, thanks for your help so far. I'm still trying to figure out what the pilot number is for the voicemail. Do you know where I can find that info?

There are two pieces of information you need, first is the call forwarding code and you can find that by following the instructions in the link you quoted. Then you need to find the VM pilot number and once you have the forwarding code, get back to us and we will try and walk you through the programming steps to get that. I'm suggesting you find the feature code first as that will give you a feeling for the way the programming works from a handset.

Hi Ozzie,

I tried to interpret the codes but I got lost in the shuffle. I found a way to forward to voicemail via the MOC terminal. I just need my voicemail pilot number. Can you tell me how to find that and I can use commands from the MOC terminal?

Thank you

Go to CMD E601 DE ext number that works DE and see where it is going. E601 is call fwd busy. E602 is CF NA.

hey guys,

I appreciate all your help and I hope I'm not too frustrating to deal with. I can' seem to figure out the moc terminal either. Nothing happens when I enter commands. I tried e601 + F8 (DE) + 7326 + F8 (DE) and then pressed F2(exe) but nothing happened. THe only F button that works is that comma and F10 which is add-ins. I'm at a loss here and now I have two more users who's calls aren't being forwarded to voicemail. Again your help is greatly appreciated.

Log into the system, click on TOOL, then click on MOC.
Press F9 to start. COMMAND should appear.
Type, E601, press F8 (DE) - E601: [E601 = call forward busy]
Type in the extension number EX: 109, F8 (DE) - E601>109:
If there is anything assigned it will appear EX: - E601>109:300
Do the same thing with E602. Pressing F4 will scroll though the extensions. [E602 = call forward no answer]
If you need to make a change, do the following; E602>109>300:F2 (EXE) writes the data.
Your voice mail pilot number will be the same for every extension.
Press F9 if you need to start over, or press F3 to clear an entry and remain in the same program block.
In your system, it appears as though 2509 is a voice mail port number.
Press F9, type 173 DE, type 2509 DE, keep pressing DE to scroll through all of the members of the UCD group. One of them will be different, or a whole number EX: ports 2509, 2510, 2500 - might be the pilot, or 2509, 2510 ,2511, 300 - might be the pilot number.
A typical installation would have as an example extensions 2000 and virtual extensions 3000 and VM pilot 2500, so...
E601 would look like this...E601>2000:3000, E601>3000:2500 (2500 being the VM pilot), and
E602>2000:2500, E602>3000:2500.
