Ring multiple extensions, then send to VM ... 7

I have the Partner ACS6 system that I'm working on almost programmed the way it should be, but am having some problems with a calling group. The user at ext. 11 has multiple places where he goes in the building, and so would like to have extensions 13, 14 and 15 ring when a call comes in on ext. 11. If the call goes unanswered, he'd then like the caller to go to his vm mailbox on ext. 11.

I put extensions 11,13,14 and 15 in calling group 1, and when I dial 71, all of the extensions ring, but I'm not sure how to send the calls to voice mail after 3 rings. The calls just keep ringing indefinitely on the set.

Is there a way to do this? Norstar systems have the "Answer DN" in which you can program an extension onto another set, and when the original extension rings for either internal or external calls, the set with the Answer DN also rings ... pretty slick.

Thanks for the help.

Yeah - that seems to be about the only thing left I've not yet tried. Will do that tomorrow and post the results back.

I cycled the power, and double-checked to be sure that #506-1 and 506-2 are set to 2 rings. The darn thing is still taking four rings to pick up! Any other suggestions to try?

No, I really don't get this one!

Back it up to the RAC card. Default the system. Set up #505, #506, and #206. See what happens. If that works, you may be faced with reprogramming from scratch.

If you have the Remote Access software, see if you can get a set of translations. That will give you something to work from if you need to reprogram. Also, it would be interesting to take a look at them.

After a couple of resets and reprogramming everything from scratch, can you believe that the problem was STILL THERE? The system paid no attention to the # of rings set in #506-1 or 2, and regardless of what mode the system was in in #507, the VM still wouldn't pick up until 4 rings.

BUT ...

I FINALLY found the problem! It had to do with what I had set in #216. I had the lines assigned to the AA in VMS Line Cover, but I should have had it set to 1 (Assigned). I made that one change, and now the system answers after whatever ring specification I put in #506. Why is it that all the simple fixes come AFTER hours of work and frustration in vain?!?! :)

Thanks again Tommy for all the help - appreciate it! -M

Thanks for posting the resolution!!!

I would guess that having the lines set as VMS Line Cover in #206 would cause them not to get to the voice mail ports until 3 rings (the default VMS Cover Rings for extensions with mailboxes), and then since PC Card Mail doesn't support VMS Line Owner (but DOES use Call Cover for a similar action), the AA would just answer when the call got there.

That's one for the memory banks!!

Great solution! You could also use the remote call forwarding feature. All calls would go to his cell phone when activated. The call would end up in the user's cell phone voicemail instead of the Partner vm. Not as good of a solution, but another option.
