Ring group member gets a "fault on far end" (customer description) when picking up ring group calls, I have removed her from the ring group and re added her, deleted and recreated her user on the 3300 and gone as far as supplying her with a new phone however the issue persists.
Standard COS and COR shared amongst all members of this group.

any ideas on what might be causing this?

Thanks

I had your problem once,I just delete pick up group and create it again with another number.

AlCATEL-LUCENT is my love.

Have you added a CoS to the ring group?
Are both extns on the same system?

Hi,

Did you ever sort out this problem? I've just come up against it myself. Calls in to a ring group (cascading) can be answered if they originated internally but not externally.

when you say internally do you mean from an IP phone or from a TDM phone. If from IP try internally from a TDM phone as this coult be E2T issues.

Thanks bob. Internally = an IP phone connected to the same switch.

Just talked to our supplier and they recreated our ring group set up and had no problems picking up calls no matter how they were placed. My next step is to delete and recreate the group as suggested by swinstation.

Recreated the group using the same pilot number and then a different pilot number. No joy. The call disconnects as soon as a station hits the call pickup button.

Bob, what do you mean by TDM phone?

Thanks.

analogue set off the back of the controller this will force the controller to convert TDM to IP (E2T) it is the exact same process as when receiving an incomming call from a trunk. This will prove if the issue is picking up calls that are from a TDM source.

Hi Bob,

Plugged an analogue set into ONSp1, made a call to the pilot number using the internal extension number and one of the members of the ring group was able to hit the call pickup button and intercept the call without a problem.

Any other ideas, Mr Cheese?

something has sprung to mind, I know it sounds abit stupid but there was a bug a while ago (not sure what release) where if a users name in the tel dir was too long it stopped them picking up calls from external ISDN call's i think (memory is a bit hazy today). What is the users name in tel dir? Try shortening it and see what happens.

I was using the maximum allowed number of digits. I've shortened the pilot number's name by a few characters and one of the group member's names down to four characters and will try again picking up an external call. This worked! You, BobCheese, are a rock hard genius!

I experimented with how many characters I can use and was unsuccessful all the way down to eight. I gave up and stuck to four as I need to do other things right now.

Thanks again bob!
