Fax servers don't typically integrate with Call Manager, they integrate with the voice mail system (in most cases Unity).
It is what it is!!

I don't believe that is what my post said. Here, I'll give you a way to integrate your fax server with Callmanager.
Purchase and ATA186.
Configure it for Fax-relay
assign an internal extension to it.
hook your fax server up to it
fax using your fax server
Your fax server is now integrated with Callmanager.
It is what it is!!

There are two types of integration required for a fax server... the first is the ability to interface with the phone system to provide dial tone, the second is the ability to interface with a message system for fax delivery. XMediusEE integrates with both over IP. It interfaces with CallManager over T.38 (SIP or H.323) to get access to phone lines, and also integrates with Exchange or Lotus Notes servers (or any SMTP server) for message delivery. If you have Unity in UM mode then it will by extension be somewhat linked into your voicemail system as well. While Unity can work with Xmedius it is by no means required to use it.
In my opinion on this. Why have your Fax server integrate with CCM or unity!!! Run tone detection on your Analog gateway(5400 works well for this) and route faxes directly to faxserver and calls directly to softswitch.
