Ricoh fax machine

In thread798-1377736 The question was asked about faxing with a Ricoh machine on a cs1000 switch. I have several Ricoh fax machines on my switch. It seems that moving them to the cabinet with the T1 allows better faxing out. My question is now about faxing internally. Why does one have a problem four digit dialing and faxing to another? Are these machines just to powerful for this switch? Is there a better solution?

I'm thinking it's a DSP issue in one of your MGC's. Of course that doesn't answer your question - but I'd go down that path first.

Being that I have not been doing this long I am translating that information into English and trying to find out what I have. The interesting thing about this particular machine is that it is failing to communicate with another on the same switch.

We had this same problem, it also would happen on fire alarms .What we found was that the media stream is being filtered by the DSP, so that their is not a double detection of the DTMF digits. The company formally known as NORTEL (like Prince) has a paper in the CS1000 install/commissioning documents saying to turn tone detection off in the Voice Gateway Media Card. We also found out that you need to set MPTA set to MPTD in cls. of the set .It has also been said to set PRI channels to 3VCE for wider bandwith it even mentions fax machine .We have ours as VOD and knock on wood it is working. I have not been able to get a window
the customer to change the type in the rout.Hope this helps you we probably had 100 hrs. invested in this and they work like a champ now.
