My sub form tool in the ribbon when clicked, drops down greyed options, Form, Datasheet, Pivot Table, Pivot Chart.

I have tried dragging a form on my sub form, and checking Child/parents links are in, but it does not seem to passed the main forms Primary key.

Any ideas, thanks

Maybe it's just me, but I think you need to add a lot more detail to this questions. From what I'm reading, you're asking about two totally different things, and not giving any usable information about either.

"But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." 1 Corinthians 15:57

The ribbon shows a picture which is the subform tool. If I click on it, the contents are greyed out. Cannot describe it any more. Thanks

I agree with kjb1611. The subform is a control in the Controls section of the form design ribbon. My (Access 2007) has no dropdown associated with it.

There is a Forms section on the Create ribbon. The only dropdown I see in that section is for More Forms.

That is the wrong icon. The image on the right is the subform/report control icon. I added the second one in the ribbon customizer. I have no idea what that thing does. The subform control is on the design tab under controls

Should say that the correct icon is on the left, the wrong one is on the right.

Thanks Majp, yes thats the one I have on the right. Its enabled for clicking on but the items that drop down are greyed out. Maybe it's the ribbon settings I need to re look at. It's all very clever having user set ribbons but to get two pc'e the same to work with is time consuming. Is there an easy way to import everything into a ribbon and then I can blank out what I don't want. I wish now I kept earlier versions of Access and then just let Access update it, was so much easier.

I do not know how you got that icon. It is not included in the ribbon and you would have to customize the ribbon to get it. The proper tool by default is on the design tab.

Anyone know what that subform control with a magnifing glass control does.? I tried to use it and nothing happens. If in form view and you click on a subform then the type of subform is not greyed out, but if you click on it nothing happens. In design view it does nothing.

Thanks Duane, found it. The one I was getting problem with is the one MajP has highlighted. Maybe it's all down to incorrect ribbon filling?
