Hello and thank you in advance. We are running Aloha on a Radiant terminal...
I switched out a problem terminal with another problem terminal...The first one kept getting the BSOD, so we have another one that has never worked until magically yesterday it turned on and started up....HOWEVER, its getting two message boxes upon startup, one saying that the time and date is incorrect and to change it in the Control Panel "date and time" settings. I tried that and it said I do not have access to make that change...
The second problem is with the RFS. The Aloha program starts booting, and updating some files, and then comes "PutRFSRegSuccess failed error 183. Cannot create a file when that file already exists"
Then I click ok and it shuts down.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks for the input!!

i'm guessing your using rfs in your aloha terminals? check the network connections of your new terminal it might not be getting the correct updates. you can also check the rfs debout file of the new terminal for pointers.

you probably need to first set the date/time in the BIOS. That could stop the service from registering. However, more likely is a credentials error, based on that terminals history. If you don't know the correct username and password to connect to the BOH server with admin rights, you'll probably need to contact the original installer, or your local reseller.

Thank you both for the feedback. So I set the time and date in the BIOS, and that got it past the first message, but its still going onto say the error 183...I checked the connections to the terminal and they seem to be in order...

How do I check the debout on the terminal itself? I know how to do it through the BOH Aloha manager but not familiar with the protocol for the FOH terminals... Thanks again!!

Hi Jay:

I keep a spare USB Windows-compatible keyboard handy for troubleshooting my clients' POS terminals & "getting into" the Windows desktop (or for booting into Safe Mode at startup for more serious problems).

On terminals like Senor (Radiant clones) there's a sliding door behind the top of the LCD screen to access two "hidden" USB ports (for some reason the Senor terminal PC's won't recognize the PS-2 style keyboard socket, which is why I use a USB keyboard). NCR's POS models have a grey-plexi door on the front of the terminal base with two USB ports. You can always use the rear USB ports, but cable covers are usually in the way.

With Aloha POS running, you can just press the Windows Logo key (next to Alt & Ctrl) which will bring up the Start Menu. Since I'm an "old" DOS geek, I just click Run >> CMD and then look at the DEBOUT file directly, or copy it to a USB thumb drive and read/print it on my laptop or at the BOH PC & printer.

For non-DOS window users, just click "My Computer" in the Start menu (the TouchScreen works fine for "clicking"! ...just remember that some things need a "double-click") and open the C: drive in a window, find the DEBOUT file, and read it in Notepad.

If you accidentally touch the margin of the Aloha POS app screen (and it covers your work) or you get "lost", use the "Alt + Tab" to cycle thru the app windows. If you have a hard time navigating folder/directories, just use Windows' "Search" app in the Start menu and type "DEBOUT" as the search parameter.

Just close the other windows (or use Alt + F4 to exit them) when you are done and Aloha POS will return to normal terminal operation.

hope this helps!
