Two things...
- I have found running a database from a CD real awkward -- Access wants to write to its system files -- cant on the CD, and complains very loudly.
- You can still keep your database split. On the front, delete the linked tables, and then re-link them to the new location. Very easy. In fact, much easier than copying / importing tables and reestablishing relaitonships, etc.
My suggestions would be one of the following...
- Copy the Front and Back end to a local PC to be used for the demo. Delete end relink the tables on the front end.
or...
- Use one of the new USB devices currently available. I have started useing them, and now that they can handle 128 to 256 MB, they are assume! Compact flash, smart disk, PCMCIA / PC card, and others. The one catch is the supporting computer has to be Windows 98, ME, 2000 or XP. 95 and NT will not work without supporting software. And the USB device solution will cost you a few bucks -- perhaps $60 to $80, but well worth it. You can link your back end tables on the external media, rather than doing it on the fly at a customer's site. This is my preferred solution.
