reverse dns question 1

quick question:

we have been given a tool by our ISP to allow us to edit our dns records, including reverse dns.

so say our domain is simpsons.com, and our email is mail.simpsons.com.

our users go to

https://mail.simpsons.com

to check email using owa.

for reverse dns, should the ptr record be setup for simpsons.com, or mail.simpsons.com?
