Hello there,

is it possible to return from a generated report to another application?

We have a java applicaton from which the report is generated, in this generated report an object should be clickable (e.g. a bar or something like this) and in dependence of this object the row in the main application should be selected.

How it works? Does it work?
(The devoloper claims that it is not possible to get a mouseclick event and use it)

Thank you in advance :)

Actually, it is possible but the exact approach depends on your specific situation and the crystal object model used.

As proof that is possible, you can show your developer the following 2 short (~1 minute each) videos demonstrating how clicks can be processed in a Crystal viewer:
In-place drill-downs:
Sort by clicking on column headers:

If the developer of the object model you are using restrict you, consider using a 3rd-party tool (see list at:
For example, my CUT Light UFL allows you trigger processing and pass command line arguments to another application by clicking on a report section within which a formula (the formula can be suppressed) is placed.

Well thank you very much,
i guess the developer will continue this thread on monday.

Hello once more,

so the videos you have linked,
was not enough evidence.

I think we would even buy your tool, but we have no formulas, but different kinds of graphs, nearly all what Crystal Reports offers.

If one of your tools offers this, we would evaluate it.

Cheers
Markus

Markus,

Exchanging information with a specific tool vendor is best done directly. Continue this thread if you have more general questions in mind.
