Hey guys I'm in a bit of a jam and looking for some help. About a year or two ago I was studying pretty hard for the A+ exams back then there were only two exams, a hardware and a software. I had a job offer from a software company and A+ got put on the back burner, 9 months later I get laid off (Michigan economy is terrible) and I find myself unemployed and looking to get A+ again. I check comptia's site and there are now 3 ways to get the A+ is this correct? I tried clicking on the links and it said they are updating there site. I guess this stuff is so new Comptia doesn't have there site all redone yet. So can someone help me out here I don't understand I guess you can take 1 exam and get a+ or you can take 2 separate exams and get the same A+?

Can someone clear this up and possible provide links to updated study material? My book i was using to study is prolly out dated now too.

The A+ is still two exams.

You start with the A+ Essentials exam (220-601).
You can then choose a specialty, 220-602 (IT Technician), 220-603 (Remote Support Technician), or 220-604 (Depot Technician).

The CompTIA web site is up at this time (I was just there).

A+,N+,S+,L+,I+,HTI+,DHTI+,e-Biz+,Security+,RFID+,CETma,CSS,CFOS/T,CCNT,CCTT,ACSP,ISA CCST3

Thanks for clearing up exams. I'll check the comptia website no that it's back up.

Any one have suggestions on self study books?

i took the exams in 2004 and had an ok amount of experience related to troubleshooting machines. I passed the exam pretty easy after taking a 5 day course on the material and then studying for a week. I have a few coworkers now looking to go get it, they are studying the 06 objectives (the ones your looking at) and I've played with their practice tests and there are quite a few that I recognize from my tests and practice exams.

I score around a 98% on these practice exams now, if you know computers then you shouldnt have any problems. I would say any books you can find on amazon or the like that cover A+ would be good, I would get my hands on anything you can find. I do suggest buying books used from amazon, I've saved a ton of money.
