Has anyone installed or seen any of the new M7xxxN phones in the wild yet? Are these only for the BCM, or will they work on the Norstars too? Are the expansion modules 48 keys (old M7324 add-on), 24 keys (T7316E add-on) or 16 keys (similar to picture of M7324N base)?
These are an update to the traditional M series phones, with rounded edges, paper strip labeling and preprinted keycaps, slanted display, and speaker under the handset, it looks like Nortel finally did something right here.
Oh, did I mention they went back to spelling out "Hold", "Feature" and "Release" instead of the stupid icons? No more calls like "Every time I put someone on hold, they get disconnected.... Yes, the handset picture on the key is pointing downward."
The only other feature I would have liked to have seen carried over from the T-series is the red message waiting light. (Although, before the T phones, I always knew that I could ask "Do you have a red message waiting light" to determine if the caller was on a Norstar or M1 phone. (Especially handy since we have about a billion phones from the year when Nortel had that crazy "lets label every phone 'Meridian' " idea.)
The only thing I don't like from the pictures is that it looks like they used the budy from a M7208N, swapped the display (to indclude the 3 softkeys) and added a 16 key add-on module to make the M7324N. It is kinda cheesy looking.
Here's a link to them in a BCM marketing slick:
