Has anyone installed or seen any of the new M7xxxN phones in the wild yet? Are these only for the BCM, or will they work on the Norstars too? Are the expansion modules 48 keys (old M7324 add-on), 24 keys (T7316E add-on) or 16 keys (similar to picture of M7324N base)?

These are an update to the traditional M series phones, with rounded edges, paper strip labeling and preprinted keycaps, slanted display, and speaker under the handset, it looks like Nortel finally did something right here.
Oh, did I mention they went back to spelling out "Hold", "Feature" and "Release" instead of the stupid icons? No more calls like "Every time I put someone on hold, they get disconnected.... Yes, the handset picture on the key is pointing downward."

The only other feature I would have liked to have seen carried over from the T-series is the red message waiting light. (Although, before the T phones, I always knew that I could ask "Do you have a red message waiting light" to determine if the caller was on a Norstar or M1 phone. (Especially handy since we have about a billion phones from the year when Nortel had that crazy "lets label every phone 'Meridian' " idea.)

The only thing I don't like from the pictures is that it looks like they used the budy from a M7208N, swapped the display (to indclude the 3 softkeys) and added a 16 key add-on module to make the M7324N. It is kinda cheesy looking.

Here's a link to them in a BCM marketing slick:

48 keys on the add-on. I should have checked the next page of the ad slick.

I was surprised to see the brochure so soon. I thought they were supposed to come out later in the year. The rumor I heard was that they would be introduced for Norstar first, then BCM. Guess that rumor was false. It is getting a bit confusing to ship a replacement phone to a user. Guess we will have to start having the customer turn the set over and give us a part number.

All that and they didn't increase the display size. Gawd.
Those little displays on the large phones look SO retro.

These phones aren't new... These are the UK versions of the Norstar phones. READ THE DATE ON THE BROCHURE... The year was 2000. They don't use T or M (North American) versions of our Norstar phones in the UK.

The T series of phones are the newest in the Norstar/BCM family, and are the only phones Nortel will continue to offer this year. There are no plans to introduce any new phones for Norstar. Look for the i2001 to be introduced this year for the BCM.

Thanks AvayaGuy, for setting us straight. You know how rumors go.
