Hi All,
i belive this is the right forum to post my query.

I was trying to install linux-vmware on windows xp pro. Since the installation didn't complete properly(froze while installing the linux kernel), i deleted all the files relating to linux and clicked 'on new virtual machine' and restarted it, though still i can't install the linux properly after several tries.

My question here is , i allocated 30 gb of hard disk space for the first installation. Since i was new to all this, instead of using 'removing the file from the disk'(right click on the favorite on the vmware), i manually deleted all the files. So my c drive, hasn't realised that the 30 gb space is back and available. Is there anything i can do to retrieve the 30 gb i assigned originally for the linux OS?

Hope i am clear.
Thanks for your help.

If I understand your question - and that's a big if - I believe you need to
a) delete the VM and rebuild it
or
b) check to see if the deleted files are in that wonderful recycle bin and it needs to be cleaned up.

One of those is probably causing your C: drive to think space is being utilized.

I don't recall ever having an issue with this, although I have not worked with locally attached disk (always SAN) for building new VM's. I believe when you delete a VM, there is an option for removing all of the storage files as well.
