Retrieving HTML from a document using Netscape 4.xx

I don't think it's possible; but I was wondering if anyone knows how to do this. Netscape 4.xx doesn't support the ___HTML properties and I know how to write to a document (Layer) but I can't find away to read back what you wrote.
