Analog phone on ONS
Incoming call to analog , answered , hookflash , dial another extension , extension is diverted to voicemail.

To retrieve the caller , hookflash , hangup - analog then rings with original external caller.

The problems is that the voicemailbox for the person who was diverted to voicemail is getting a 5 minute Music on hold message

Can we retrieve a call diverted to voicemail without it resulting in a phantom voicemail message?

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

Instead of pressing flash and hanging up to let the phone ring back have you tried pressing flash then the 'Call Hold Retrieve' code to get the caller back.

Have you tried call hold retrieve feature code instead of the hookflash and hangup method?

Yes we get the call back ok . The problem is that there ends up being a 5 minute vmail message of music on hold left to the extension that was diverted to vmail

It sounds like by pressing flash again that the same is happening to the mailbox. i.e. putting on hold waiting for transfer.
5 mins is the limit of embedded VM so I assume it is holding until the limit is reached.

I might see if I get some time to do testing tomorrow when I'm in the office, I am now curious.

Screened transfer?

OK had time to do a little testing.

First of all make sure that 'Call Waiting Swap' is set to No for the ONS ports. This disables swapping calls by just pressing the flash key.
I have found that if you set this to No you get a dialtone to then can perform feature codes etc...

My testing scenario:
- Call is made/answered from ONS
- You process to transfer the call by pressing flash then ext
- Destination VM answers, you then press flash and receive dialtone
- Dial the Forced Party Release FAC (This is important otherwise you will just put the VM on hold again)
- You can then
a) Hang up the ONS and it will ring you back and the original party will connected
b) Dial the Call Hold - Retrieve FAC to retrieve the original party.

Excellent that did the trick , we didnt have a feature code for that , we added it and it does exactly what we wanted , thanks for the tip
