Retrieve mail from General Server

How the client can retrieve the mails from the General server (if it is not a POP3 or SMTP Server). Any useful links, sites and suggestion would be much appreciated.

you can't, but u can use other protocol to do so, say HTTP, FTP, but it's not email anymore. ----------------------------------------
