Please help - I have a requirement to apply the NEW retention schedule to our Livelink documents. The trick is that I only want to apply this new retention schedule to the new documents in a certain folder but NOT to update everything in that folders. How do people do out there to update the retention schedule "forward" but not forward and backward? The obvious reason NOT to update the existing documents is that they could be due for destruction tomorrow where the applying new retention could extend them to years from now. Thanks for your help.

Thru OI+Recman plugin you can create a OI xml instruction file only for the datid's you want

Thru Livelink API you can apply the Rm classification directly to the node's

thru Livelink WebSvcs you can apply the Rm class to the dataid's

the apply to subitems is code that will crawl the subitems,in your case you don't want that happening.Your option would be to some how move all the items under the folder with a existing RM class to another place and then apply the new RM class. It may be possible to find all the items under the folder having an existing class using a disposition search and collect them but frankly I donot know if you can move them without programming
Try the rm area of Ot discussions perhaps some one can guide you without programming

Well, if I called the wrong number, why did you answer the phone?

Thanks appnair. I thought of creating folder them dump all existing stuff there but the challenge part is that we have hundred of new retention schedules to update on thousands of folders and documents. It is a huge scope. It is a job security thing because that could take me a long time to finish. It's gotta be a better way of handling this out there. I will check with the OT forum. Thanks.
