retain formatting when opening report in word

I have sent a report out in snapshot format and a couple of the people cannot open it. they say they are not allowed by their company to download snapshot viewer as I suggested they do. I exported the report to word and sent it them but it loses all the formatting. Is there any way round this.

Did you export it as a .snp file. That should retain most of the formatting from the report.

yes when I exported it as a .snp file it was fine but for the people who couldn't open this I saved as a word doc and then it lost all the lines.

What I usually do is print my Access reports to Adobe Acrobat, this way anyone can view the report and all formatting is intact.......

When you say print to Adobe Acrobat, do you mean there's a way to export to a .pdf? I am having the same troubles as tizwaz where when our reports get exported to .rtf, they lost their formatting and the nice colored lines that separate records. Of all the export options that I know of, .rtf would be the most perferable (unless you could make a .pdf on the fly somehow). Any suggestions or advice would be most appreciated. Thnx.! (^_^)

If you install the full version of Adobe to your machine, you can then select "PDFWriter" from the printer selection menu of the print dialog box.

Well, after discussing a few issues with my boss, we decided to just install the Microsoft Snapshot Viewer instead of opting to buy Adobe Acrobat Writer or install some unknown pdf writer to everyones machine. It's an easy install (I believe the sys admin otped to not have the viewer installed by default, but we can just install it from the network drive) and it keeps all the formatting of reports, which was my problem in the first place, so I'm satisfied.

I have seen apps where ALL reports are automatically printed to SnapShot and then opened in their own window (outside of Access). The user can then navigate around and open several Snapshots simultaneously.

I wouldn't shy away from some of the free PDF writers but can understand your hesitancy to install these. My group supports over 500 users so we try to stick with "tried and true" applications.
