Hi.

I have been approached by a client where all the users are not supposed to have Internet Explorer. Some of them have discovered that they can get out on the Internet by using the Find-button under Start.
We used System Policy Editor to disable the Find-button, but that also disabled Find in Windows NT Explorer, which mean that Find files and folders is disabled.
Does anybody know how to only disable the Internet connction under Find, and not the rest?

Kind regards
Gro G. Sjaaland

Gro,
This may sound a silly question but your client obviously does not want his/her users to access the internet. So instead of disabling the find option etc. Why is he/she giving them machines that are connected to the internet???.
Surely the easy way out is to give users machines without an active connection, then it would not matter if they had an internet explorer icon or not.

Cheers...Paul.

How are they connected to the internet? Do they have static ips? If they are connected through a routing device (cisco etc.) and have an ip that is static you can simply block them from the internet that way. Are they supposed to have email access as well.

What about changing the permissions on iexplore.exe so that they don't have access to it.
Troy Williams B.Eng.
fenris@hotmail.com

Thanks for your replies!!
I forgot to mention that this is on a terminalserver.
Someone here came up with a great idea, so things worked out fine.
Thanks anyway.

Gro
