Restricting outbound calls to the USA

Hello everyone, I appreciate you taking the time to look at my question. We have a Avaya IP office 500v2 and i need to restrict calling on certain outbound trunks so they cannot dial calls to the USA. Is there an easy way to do this?

It's easy if you have a working knowledge of the system. It requires creating shortcodes as oppose to ticking a box or anything like that

I would have to obtain a list of area codes for the USA and add each one as a separate short code?

No, just a generic one that blocks calls to America, for example here in UK would be: 001N, Barred, ., Line gp 0

depends where you are

if you are in Europe then it will start most likely with 001 and you can block it all as the 1 indicates USA (and Canada actually) but if you are in Canada then you need to separate the area codes which means googling the area codes (including the new ones coming up this month btw) and creating separate entries

I am located in canada so I will manually have to add the shortcodes for each area code i guess. Thank you for your assistance. It will be a bit of work but worth it. I'm going to block all USA calls on all trunks unless they press 8 before the call then it will pick the trunk that are allowed to make the calls to the USA

it might be faster to allow all Canadian area codes and make 1 disallow for anything else.
Note that new area codes will be added to Canada on March 25 overlapping 905 and 416 area codes (365 and forgot the other one)
