Hi all,

does anybody knows how to restrict a folder size under windows 2000 with HD in NTFS format? Or is it possible at all??

Many Thanks.

You can use disk quotas go to my computer and right click on your drive and select the Quota tab.

i've check regarding the disk quota tab but found no such tab. i'm using windows 2000. Besides, it would not solve my problem because what i need to is restrict the size of each idividual disk space on the harddisk.

More suggestions/solutions needed.

Many thanks.

If you want to limit how much space each user has, then disk quotas are the way to go, however if you want to limit the size or certain folders, ie no more than 200mb in C:\Users then I dont actually know a way.
I have implemented a work around for the moment, whereby the size of the directories is reported to me via a simple VB program, allowing me to limit access if the folder gets too large.

Hopefully someone will know a more suitable solution. They say hard work never killed anyone. But dont like taking chances.

Hi Invalid,

possible for me to take a look at the VB program you've implemented??

Many Thanks.

Hi

Sorry for (very) delayed response but I havent actually checked on here for quite a while. If you still need/want the program, post me your email address and I can email the program to you.

There's a bit of software out there called 'Quota Manager' which will add the very needed, folder quotations to win2000.

I've used the trial, and it seems to work well.
