Hi Guys,

Just been looking about the net for some help with stopping multiple users accessing a particular part of an application.

i.e If one user has a booking form open, the other user is informed its currently in use and cannot open it.

I havent found anything very useful so was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions or examples ?

Any help appreciated,

Thanks

What application?
Where your application is stored?
How do users start your application?
Does it use any data base?

Have fun.

Hey there,

The application is vb 6.0 front end and an access 97 database which is stored on a shared network drive.

So really just something like If frmXXX is open display a message to say its being used by another person.

Any ideas appreciated

One way I could think of to do this in your situation would be to write the name of the form to something like a 'Locked' table in your DB and have a Function that checks the table each time a user wants to open a restricted access form. If there is no record (or no current record if you're wanting some kind of audit trail) then allow the form to open, else message the user that someone else is using it and cancel the open.

Why is it you want to do this?
