Hello,

I am a helpdesk employee. We restrict executables in our Windows NT environment. Such exe's as install, setup, autorun, etc. are restricted. When they run one of these files, they get a message saying, "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer."

I have a user that is trying to view the contents of his CD by double clicking My Computer, then double clicking the CD Rom. Since it has an AutoRun on the CD, it tries to run the Autorun. He can right click it and choose Explore, and it comes up, but he wants to disable the Autorun.

Does anyone know how I can do this?

I have disabled Autorun when inserting a CD, but not in My Computer.

Thanks.

Not sure in Win NT but here's how in 98. May be the same :

Right-click on 'My Computer'
Click on 'Properties'
Click on 'Device Manager' tab
Double-click on CDROM
Double-click the CD ROM dive
Click the 'Settings' tab
Un-tick 'Auto insert notification'
Click 'Ok'
Click 'Ok' again

Hope this helps
