I am trying to restrict group of extensions to use only a certain trunk group for in/out calling,

I have a another customer attached to our option 81c and they had a phone system with 5 CO lines, their phone system went out so I moved them over to the 81c (built extensions and put in phones), the 81c has pri, I have univ trunk card etc. to connect their 5 CO lines,

I just cant figure out how to set this group of extensions to only use the co lines I will connect to the trunk card for outward dialing and calls comming in, I also want to allow them to access all of the extension's on the switch so I don't want to use pvt lines.

Thanks in advance

you can use FRL/NCOS on the RLI(s) and sets to force the selection. You familar with NARS/BARS?

Oh, that is going to make things complicated. Do you have TENS?

Do a
LD 22
REQ PRT
TYPE PKG

If you see TENS (Pkg 86) then you can add the route in BARS, make all these other people TEN 2 then use LD93 to specify what trunks they can ands cannot access. BARS will just hop over the ones they are restricted from.

The other option is to give them all PVR keys with there trunks.

Just checked don't have TENS, I was thinking that I didn't want to use PVT bc they wouldn't have access to the other extensions on the system, but I can leave btn 0 as an extension and btn 1-5 PVT, on the NARS/BARS question Not failiar enough.
How bout this what do you guy's think would be better leave an extension and add the 4 pvt lines or use BARS/NARS?

I am assuming there is no prompt within station programming to set the in/out trunk group and make this easy right?

Thanks again

They will have access to any extension even with PVR - they would just have to dial out to get there. Hey, it's their coin. They either pay for TENS, or pay for the call. The call is cheaper and that is what they used to do.

I really appreciate this info.
From what I can understand this far, If I setup the CO trunks as private lines then I will loose many of the advantages of the system,i.e. forward, hunt, transfer.

Now if I use NARS/BARS and I get a call into the Hospital main PRI trunks at the attendant, will the system still allow transfer to the extensions that I have the trunk restrictions on? I would guess that if I do it right there is probably a waw to not restrict transfer from the PRI trunks from the hospital.

I don't want to loose the advantages on the system.

I also should tell you that all of this is because our local telco wont pass CLID info from the extensions, that is whi I need to keep these guy's on their original CO lines so the patient they are calling will see the calling number as one that is for the cancer center.

One more thing, I have researched but maybe I missed something,
When it comes to the intercom feature I was hopeing to be able to do a page all through all of the phones speakers at once but it dosen't seem possible..
Thanks again

You can use TGAR in conjunction with NCOS that is kind of the old school way of determining who could use which groups of trunks. TGAR works as a meet it beat it, that is if the concern is what trunks they will use for outbound.

You could do my "new" PVR method"""

I looked at this...This could be the stuff, Does this keep all or most of the functionality of the system? Is there anything important I should know?

I want to say I appreciate you guys letting me know that i could use diferent restriction configurations i.e. BARS/NARS/FRL---TGAR/NCOS etc. and I did research it most of the day yesterday, and I do understand to some degree, but I do realise that I really need to understand it well, I think with a bit of help I could probably get through it, but.. I would probably have to ask alot of questions or hire someone to work it out quickly for us as I really need to finish this soon. I dont want to tax you kindness that much. But thanks, really for all of the info.. This is great!!!

I have already given the phones extensions from the main pool so you can dial just the extension to call between hospital and cancer center, also if the operator at the hospital receives a call for the cancer center she could still transfer through extension rather then using trunks.

What I found with using private lines is that the only feature I would be able to use is Hold and they would have to page the person being called and have them pickup the line, which leads me to ask again, I have researched and found that if you configure intercom on these phones that it still wont really help me page as you cannot do a "page all intercom members" and use the phone speakers as a paging system like you could do with a smaller phone system.

CORRECTION: I just found that you can use transfer to extension with Private lines, guess if you can do that that may work for me also...Sorry for the ignorance.
