Hi,

Just want to know how to restrict extension to extension on IP office. Are there any short code can do this ?

Thanks

I guess you could drop the dial delay count down to 0 and the delay timer down then send all calls that begin with the first digit of your extn range to an ARS that gives busy to internal numbers, this is kind of askng the phone system not to be a phone system though :)

You can. If you want. Create a USER short code of 2N Dial 2N > ARS which would send all calls where you dial a 2 as the first digit to ARS (or whatever else you want). This would prevent you from dialing anything that started with a 2 even extensions.

If you're running 4.X or 5.X then you can do like kholladay says, but then use the "User Right"/ "short codes tab" make a new one for each company.

That's what I said, just not so specifically :)

Hi Guys,

I've been trying to do what you have said but still not working.

I've read some thread here in tek-tips that ARS blocking will not work because the system will see first if there is availble extension assigned before it goes to ARS , so they suggested to block on "do not Disturb feature" . But still im having problem on this, the call is been routed to voicemail even DND is enable.

Hope there are other way we can deny extension to extension calls on the IP office.

Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

Hmm, maybe a ?D short code to send them directly to outbound trunks when the handset is lifted? Worth a shot, I'm thinking it should look like this:

Code: ?D
Tel. Number: N
Feature: Dial
Trunk Grp: <your ARS>

You are kind of asking a phone system to not be a phone system by doing that, that's why there is no real way of achieving it :)

To tanderson, I've tried it but stillnot working..

To amriddle01, thanks but the idea that we need to achieve is, there will be two group which will be using the ip office ( tenant partioning ). This two group willl not be calling each other since they are separated. They can only call the extension within their group

Is the IP office will be capable in tenant partitioning ?

Try do not disturb
make exceptions for external and the user that are allowed

To answer your question, No the IP Office does not support multi tennant partitioning :)

give each group there own range of extns...ie...group 1 starting extension 100 - 150. group 2 starting extension 200 - 250 or whatever you want....

group 1....make a short code either in user rights or on each extension that if they dial 2 it gives a busy tone.

group 2 same thing.

we have done this a couple of times and works fine.

hope this helps

happy thanksgiving!!!!!!

kyle1532, that will not work as it will match extn's before shortcodes, at least in UK it does as we use dial delay count :)

should have bought an alcatel or *shudder* splicecom...

the other option is create a range of extns that couldnt be accidently dialed

perhaps:

Room 1 - Extns 1000 -> 1xxx
Room 2 - Extns 2000 -> 2xxx

or some other perhaps less obvious ranges.

the other option is set the users Extns to their DDIs ;-)

eg Users A - DDI = 02081234567 and their Extn is the same - a bit nasty but it will work.

You could try to use the DND with a exception list on each user.

Let say you extensions are in the 1000 and 2000.
Turn on DND on every extension, and add for the 1000 range add exception 1XXX and 0N for the 2000 range add 2XXX and 0N

This way the 1000 numbers cannot call the 2000 numbers and viceversa the 0N is for external calls. But if you have BLF buttons the you'll always see the led's blink and in the PhoneManager you'll see an blue circle with a white cross on the users.
