Restrict emergency calls

Hi all,

I do apologise if this is well known or if I haven't searched enough already, but I'm trying to restrict 999 calls via Business Elements on our Mitel BCM400, but it seems like this is being overriden internally by the system to allow the call. I'm using the normal restriction filters method and have verified it by blocking my own mobile, but the 999 still works.

I'm assuming that this is the way things "have" to be from a legal standpoint? Whilst I do not want to break the law, we have an issue with people dialing 999 for purposes other than emergency and I'd like to stop this happening and upsetting the operators there.

Any advice or input would be appreciated.

FYI BCM was by Nortel and now Avaya....not Mitel related in any way.

You need to build a restriction filter then apply that filter to lines or the problem sets (users).
You can add exceptions to filters as well i.e. if you restrict 1 for long distance you can add exception for 1800, 1888 etc.

Thanks for the response and yes it's Nortel, thanks for pointing that out.

Although I did already state I'd created the necessary filters and applied, but it does not restrict an emergency call. As suggested, I have applied the filter with two restrictions, one is to block a call being made to my specific mobile phone, the other is to block 999. The restriction works fine when trying to call my mobile, but does not activate when dialling 999.

As suggested, I think this may be common/legal issue, just didn't know if there was a way around it.

create a new filter 10
Deny digits 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9
Allow digits say for number begining with 0800,118.
This will barr all calls except 0800,118

If you want to barr all calls use the default filter 06.

If you do not want access to the line pool then remove the line pool access from the extn ,eg pool A
they will not have access to any External calls.
 
Snowman That restricts all calls except the exceptions you mentioned he just wants to restrict 999.
Have you added the Pool code or Destination code in front of 999. If access code is 9 then 9999 for The restriction.
 
Thanks for the responses gents. I have tried the 9999 (as 9 is the access code) yet it still allows.

No worries, I'll think of something else, thanks for all your help though folks.
