I need to restore a database to our SQL Server using the Brightstor SQL Server agent. My problem is that the database I am restoring canNOT be overwritten as it is a valid active database. I need to restore this database to the same server, but a different database name. Does anyone know how to do this? I am using Brightstor 9.0 for Windows 2000 Server. I have tried deselecting "restore to original location," selecting the SQL server to restore to and changing the name in the path box below the "restore to original location" to "\\servername\dbasql@MSSQLSERVER\newdatabase_name" - this is not working

Thanks for any input!

That is the correct process.
What are the errors when you try to run the job?

Hi

If you are using the option RESTORE BY SESSION do the following:-

-In the SOURCE tab right click on the session you want to restore and select BACKUP AGENT OPTION, go to the Restore database files section and rename the file names of the DB to the new name you want. Then OK this.

-In the DESTINATION tab do as you did before by unchecking the 'restore to orignal locations' and repoint to \\servername\dbasql@MSSQLSERVER\newdatabase_name.

This has worked for me. hope it helps

- Start the restore.
