Hello,

We have an xp pro workstation. We do daily backups of the data, program files folder, and system state. It is an HP workstation.

We had a hard drive failure. We replaced it with the same model hard drive. We reinstalled xp pro.

If I restore the system state and program files folder, I can get to the desktop.(I am able to restart into safe mode, but not a normal restart to the xp desktop.).

We didn't keep any of the installation media for the other programs. We were hoping that we could restore the system state, registry, and program files folder, to get all of the applications working.

Could you give me any advice on restoring this workstations system state? Should I try an XP fast repair after the system state restore? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.
