A user recently deleted and emptied all their mail, notes, tasks and appointments - and now wants them back! A useful exercise i thought to test a Restore operation. I created a restore area in consoleone and restored PO files from dat tape.

1. when try restore mailbox from consoleone - it submits a job to POA - but nothing actually happens
2. in the GW client - File > Open backup returns the mail etc but when right-click and restore i get an invalid path (but the path to where?), i've tried different locations in the restore area but to no avail

pls help

There are a couple of ways to do this, here is what I have done in the past.

Restore their old user db from tape, rename current user db and copy restored user db to ofuser dir. They'll lose everything that has changed since the backup.
or
Run gwcheck and choose re-create user database. It will restore some of the mailbox, but not all.

thx,
but these issues have been considered, the user was made admin equivalent to rule out rights

the TID is the doc i used, but some things don't hold true
e.g. you're not asked for the path when u 'Open backup'
