Hello ... can anyone offer any advice on restoring an Exchange 5.5 DB to a recovery server usign ArcServe 7.0?

I keep recieving the following error when trying to restore ...

"E8603 Failed to write to database. (DBNAME = Information Store, EC= Backup Agent Error -- (321) Tried to load a non-Exchange DB file.)

Any advice/suggestions?

Thanks,

kovacsa

How are you restoring the Info Store?
You should have exchange up and running with the exact same name (case sensitive).
After the Exchange agent is installed and running, do a restore via Network Neighbourhood rather than through the NT Agent. I.E. select in destination tab, MS Network and select destination Server instead of NTagent

Open the Restore Manager in ARCServe Manager
Select Restore By Tree method
Open the My Computer tree
Open the Microsoft Exchange Server branch
Mark the Information Store
Select the correct version of the tape to restore from the Version History button
Right click the Microsoft Exchange Server branch
Select DBOption
Check the box for <Erase all data before Restoring>
Do this for all Information Store branches as well

Run the job

When the targets and tapes dialog box appears:
Select each target and click <Edit>
Change the user name and password to:
DOMAIN NAME\Administrator
Administrator Password

Click <OK> to start the restore
