Good afternoon all. I'm new to the group, and would like to ask is there a way to restore a clients data to a new replacement machine with a different hostname.

Yes. Add the new machine as a client, then add the new machine's name in the remote access field of the old client.

Then do a "directed recover" (or recover -c depending on your platform).

I should point out that it's generally not possible to restore to a different platform.

hi,
i know that is is a feature of networker 7.XX.

I am having a similar problem. How do I get to the remote access field?

Thanks!

Thank you it worked!! I used the GUI. I went to the machine that I wanted the data to be restored to, started up "nwrecover", changed clients and browse time and....BOOYAAH!!

Could you be a bit more precise, please?

- In the first answer your will find that recover -c
will do the job.
- In a GUI there is no command line but you may change to
another client via a command sequence.
In this case it is important which OS family you use.
- Or are you using the interactive mode within "recover"?
In this mode just type "help" and it will tell you.

Or what else do you want to do?
