I just upgraded my primary domain controller to Server 2003. This process included the installation of a new SCSI RAID array with 3 new hard drives. I backed up the old server which was running on NT 4 prior to the upgraded. I used a Travan 8/20 GB tape drive and the NTbackup software. I am now trying to restore this backup in Server 2003. The backup utility in Server 2003 recognizes the tape drive and reads that there is a tape inserted in it, but it can not read any of the files on the tape. Are there any suggestions as to what the problem could be? Thank you for your help.

Sincerely,
Jason Long

I would try to download and install veritas backupEXEC on the server. The BackupEXEC has a 60 days trial period.

If you still are unable to read the data, try the tape in another drive to eliminate that the tape is dead.

Why make things difficult, when it is possible to make them cryptic and totally illogic, with just a little more effort.
